4 Days tour from Ouarzazate to Merzouga via Zagora

Experience the beautiful sand dunes of Sahara. Go on camel rides, try sandboarding, enjoy unforgettable sunsets and an amazing starlit sky. Sleep in a nomadic tent and spend fun time with hospitable nomads. On the way to Sahara we follow an ancient caravan route, pass Draa valley where Berbers grow dates, see the “tea mountain” Jbel Kissane, visit ceramic village Tamegroute with colorful, handmade ceramic. On the way back we follow the route of rally Paris-Dakar and visit the carpet village Taznakht.

In the morning departure towards Zagora across the Tizi-n-Tinifift pass, to reach Agdez then the Draa valley. You will take the unpaved road starting from Tansikht villages through the forest of the palm trees towards the Oasis of Zagora where you will stop for lunch. After that, you will visit the first sand dunes of Tinfou and the medieval library of Tamegroute with its old Koranic books which go back to 11 the century. Check into the hotel in Zagora.

Departure for Merzouga through the Djbl Tafilalet crossing the stone desert over the Anti Atlas with its lunar landscapes, a very different sense of the desert. We will have lunch in the town of Alnif, the stronghold of Jbel Bougafer, the cradle of the Berber resistance in the heart of the oasis. Then we continue our journey to join the fossils town of Erfoud. Upon your arrival to Merzouga, you will have a camel trek crossing the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi, to assist the sunset along the road and spend a marvelous night in a nomad tented camp under the stars.

Wake up early in order to see the marvelous sunrise from behind the dunes of Erg Chebbi, then camel trek back to the hotel for breakfast and shower. Then depart toward Dades Gorges, passing through the historic town of Rissani, the cradle of Alaouist dynasty and where we will have a walk inside. Then we continue our journey to have lunch in Touroug. Upon our arrival to Tinghir, we will veer out of the main road to visit the marvelous and beautiful canyons of Toudra gorges with its 300m long wall. Night and dinner there in Toudra Gorges.

After breakfast, we depart to visit the Dades gorges and the strange rock formation of Monkey’s fingers and Ait Youl Kasbah where we will veer out of the road to go off-road to visit the nomads to Boutghrar. On our way back we will drive beside the green Rose Valley to join the town of Kalaa Magona, the rose capital, and then continue our journey to visit Kasbah Armidil which is located in the middle of Skoura Palm. Arrive at Ouarzazate in the late afternoon where your accommodation.
